From a Work-In perspective, similar to Stage 1, the objective is less on “Recovery” because of the age of the athlete. Rather, we use Work-In’s as “homework” opportunities an athlete can do outside of their practice/games/school time. 3 primary objectives we focus on with Work-In’s in Stage 2:
1) Watching Sport: Watching games/matches of their favorite sport with family or friends. Perhaps watching an older sibling or a cousin who plays competitive sport as a family activity.
Consider also watching clips of the Legends of the game to become familiar with the History of the game.
2) Art Play: Through story, music, drawing, painting, writing, etc. Giving an athlete an opportunity to be creative through art with their favorite sport
3) Alternative Game Play: Whether through video games, collecting sports cards, etc, connect to the sport via other means than being physically active
