When Pushing up try to move up as quick as possible and on the way down in a controlled way. As you reach to the bottom of the movement, quickly and powerfully push up (as you are trying to jump).
Try to use the straps as least possible.
If needed, have a chair to aim and as you get better, lower the chair until you reach to the ground.
