The pool is effective as the buoyancy and pressure gradients of water improve venous return without having to elevate heart rate allowing for movement that is more parasympathetic dominant.
Gentle pool activities to Include:
Relaxed Water Walking – 5 min
Increase gait water walking (longer stride) – 3 min
complete as a circuit 2 rounds (10 minutes)
Sitting on the pool stairs – leg extension x 10
Standing leg hamstring curls x 10
Water squats x 10
Foot on noodle – knee lifts x 10
Standing side leg lifts x 10 each side
