Comprehensive isometrics improve neural drive or efferent (motor) neural signals that control muscle actions. This is accomplished by generating subtle joint movements into the sagittal, frontal, and transverse planes of movement. Iso’s also improve proprioception or the awareness of our joints and tissues in space, that deal with afferent (sensory) signals from mechanoreceptors and proprioceptors housed within muscle tissue, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and skin.
Hold each position 2-3 seconds, taking a full nasal inhalation and expiration of air through mouth. Intensity of isometric is about 20-30% of your effort.
